Excellent Conditions as Top Seeds Enter the Action

The second day of the Ballito Pro pres. by Billabong is underway in excellent 1 to 1.3 metre (3-4 foot) waves and a light offshore wind at Willard Beach in Ballito this morning. 

The contest resumed in Heat 5 of Round 2 with 2016 runner-up Joan Duru up against fellow Frenchman Maxime Huscenot, Marco Giorgi (URY) and Leandro Usuna (ARG).

Top seed and local favourite Jordy Smith (ZAF) will be coming up in Heat 12 with second seed Connor O’Leary (AUS) starting the defence of his 2016 title in Heat 13.

The first World Surf League (WSL) QS10,000 rated event of the year runs from 3 to 9 July and has attracted 112 of the world’s best surfers competing for a R3.3 million prize purse and precious Qualifying Series (QS) ranking points.

Alongside the surfing, visitors will be spoiled for choice with non-stop activities providing even more entertainment throughout the Ballito festival site. South Africa's hottest musical acts appealing to all tastes - rock, pop, hip hop, kwaito, electro and dance - will be performing live on Salt Rock Beach on the weekend. Beach and extreme sports, culinary contests as well as quality retail and food stalls will captivate visitors to this coastal holiday highlight.
