Supertubes, JBay – The Corona Open JBay is the anchor event of the JBay Winterfest, and the surfing for round 3 and some of round 4 today (Tuesday 18 July) was quite incredible.

Supertubes in Jeffreys Bay treated the world’s best surfers to a an epic day of pumping waves with classic 1.5 to 2.5 metre walls of water peeling down the fabled point as the Corona Open J-Bay ran through Round 2 of competition.

Icy conditions did little to deter the 33 swimmers who entered the 2017 JBay Winterfest Cold Water Swim Classic which was held yesterday at Marina Martinique.

The Corona Open J-Bay, stop No. 6 on the 2017 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), ran through the opening two heats of elimination Round 2 before competition was put on hold and eventually called off after the inconsistent one metre waves and crosswind conditions at Jeffreys Bay failed to improve.

The world’s best surfers and picture perfect two metre waves at Supertubes combined to produce a spectacular display of high-performance surfing on the opening day of the Corona Open J-Bay in Jeffreys Bay today.
