The event, where a jetski is used to tow a bodyboarder at high speeds allowing them to boost into the oncoming waves, was the first of its kind in South Africa. It also formed part of the Kumba West Coast Classic, a premier contest on the South African Bodyboarding calendar where Mark also placed a joint third overall in the Pro Division

The standard of the tricks being attempted by ten of the countries best riders was next level with huge air reverses, backflips the order of the day. The final was contest by McCarthy, Michael Ostler (Durban), Terence Pieters (South Coast) and Mafoos Lombard (Boland) and ended in that order. Mark and Ostler seemed to be in tune with the set waves and got the biggest ramps of the heat.

Mark took first place winning himself R1 000 and he threw his board out to the crowd for a lucky development rider to go home with a huge smile on his face! It was an awesome show of bodyboarding enjoyed by everyone there.
