This prestigious event is the foundation of South African Surfing with Green and Gold at stake for the winners and is held at the most famous Point Break in Jeffrey’s Bay.

The relatively young and inexperienced Zululand Team showed a tremendous amount of courage and determination right through the event.  Whilst Mother Nature dealt its wildest card with waves up to 10feet and winds exceeding 35knots the junior surfers courageously continued surfing for the full duration of the event.

Standout performances where our U17 girls Michaela Smith and Carmen de Villiers who reached the quarter finals and our U15 boys Liam de Villiers and Callum Carlson who reached the third round in one of the most competitive divisions.

Although Zululand did not have a full team they managed to secure an eight place out of nine teams and certainly earned the respect of their peers.  The team gathered a tremendous amount of experience which would not have been possible without the help of ZSA and the generous sponsorship from Zulchem, PG Glass and Makakatana Bay Lodge.
